1. Digital Convergence
Physical and digital worlds are converging. Diverse technologies are sophisticatedly integrated to create the new way of lifestyle. As people’s personal lives and working lives become more integrated and normally physical tasks, like going shopping, can now be done online, customers expect a consistent experience in whatever world they happen to be living in. Convergence of personal and business usage of smart devices is also part of this big convergence trend, such as Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) and Choose Your Own Device (CYOD). The world is becoming increasingly mobile every day, so we expect this trend to continue long into the future.
2. All about the Cloud
Cloud is a concept that has been floating around for quite a while, but 2014 is the year it really took off. Organizations are deploying various cloud strategies to enable safe and secure access to information for employees with flexibility and easier accessibility, facilitating more efficient and flexible working environment. Cloud still hasn’t reached its height though. But as the workplace and marketplace continues to grow evermore mobile, the move towards cloud is inevitable. As Gartner has well put “Cloud is the new style of elastically scalable, self-service computing, and both internal applications and external applications will be built on this new style.”
3. Mobile Device and Mobility Management
The “everything everywhere” trend suggests a move to make everything accessible from everywhere a reality. This will encompass both implement and inadvertent consequences from the mobility management trend. Implimentation of various mobility management strategy, such as BYOD and CYOD will require more sophisticated IT strategy and structure. Ability to adapt well suited combination of mobility management will be cruicial. We expect this trend will also continue. Mobile working facilitates efficiency and flexibility, and employees have the opportunity to access organizational information outside of work.
4. The Internet of Everything (IoT)
Gartner defined IoT as“the network of physical objects that contain embedded technology to communicate and sense or interact with their internal states or the external environment. “ IoT growth and application the technology will be seen every sphere of industry and market in the coming year. This will be well leveraged and accomplished through Internet of Everything (IoE). The range of application will be diverse, from office device, such as multifunction printers, to diverse services, for instance, pay-as-you-drive insurance package.
