What Does Printing Mean to Samsung?
At this year’s CeBIT, one of the largest and most international IT trade fair in the world, we had the chance to take a closer look at the new, innovative way Samsung defines printing. In the presence of 4,000 participating companies and 210,000 visitors from around the world, Samsung presented Samsung’s vision for how printing products and solutions can transform enterprise office workflow, making them smart, fast, and reliable through mobile convergence and innovative solutions. We recap here the highlights of the trade fair, from the product showcase to a 1:1 interview with Executive Vice President and Head of the Printing Solutions Business, Dr. KiHo Kim.
Smartify Your Business with Mobile Integrated Solutions
At the Samsung Booth, visitors had the opportunity to get hands-on experience with Samsung’s flagship printers and solutions.
At the Highlight Zone, Samsung showcased its Smart MultiXpress Lineup, including the MultiXpress 7 Multifunction Printer (MFP) that was recently added to the portfolio. Boasting its upgraded features including 240ipm and 2 times faster scanning speed than its predecessor MultiXpress 4 series and mobile features supported by Samsung’s Smart UX Center and Samsung Cloud Print, MultiXpress 7 series raised anticipation for its official launch in May.
At zones representing key business verticals, such as finance, education, and hospitality, visitors had the opportunity to fully experience how Samsung’s in-house and ISV Solutions can “smartify” a modern office. Some of the highlighted features for each vertical are as follows:
As a part of Samsung Business Core™ Printing Solutions, Samsung SecuThru™ Lite 2 received spotlight at the Printing Solutions section. The Secure and Pull printing Solution helps financial staff to easily pull confidential customer documents from the Samsung MFPs and release them safely by tagging their mobile to the printer and verity their document ownership without having to purchase an ID card reader. Samsung’s tag-and-go NFC printing technology made all this possible.
At the Education Zone, visitors were able to see for themselves how easily document editing can be done directly at the printer rather than going back to their PC. Thanks to the Work Book Composer printer application running on Smart UX Center, users can select the areas of a document they wish to scan, convert the area into a file, and then print or send it via email for further editing. It is expected to have great usage for instructors who wish to create tests or workbooks from various hardcopy sources.
At the Hospitality Zone, Samsung Cloud Print offered a seamless and personalized printing experience for guests. Using Samsung Cloud Print, the user was able to gain simple access to the Samsung printer installed at the lobby from his or her own room. All they had to do was send their document to Samsung Cloud Print app and then print the document directly from the Samsung printer at the lobby.
The Path to Becoming the Leader of Printing Market
Executive Vice President and Head of Samsung Printing Solutions Dr. KiHo Kim used the 1:1 interview sessions to reaffirm Samsung’s commitment to “smartifying” the printing experience for enterprises. “The Company aims to lead mobile printing trend through incorporating NFC, Samsung Cloud Print and smart UI of Smart UX Center into conventional printers,” said Dr. Kim.
Addressing the recent trend of decreasing print volume, Dr. Kim emphasized the need to shift focus from printing devices to comprehensive document solutions that allow seamless printing experiences. As a part of this effort, Dr. Kim talked about the need to embrace the challenges of partners and continuing to provide document and workflow solutions that meet their needs. He ended his speech by expressing his vision of Samsung Printing Solutions:
“I admit that Samsung was a follower in the traditional printer and copier market. But today, I would like to ask you to remember Samsung Printing Solutions Business as the leader and provider of future innovative printing solution. With our unrivaled strength in IT and mobile, we are leading the trend in mobile printing, and combined with other Samsung products, we will bring you a complete Samsung Ecosystem that is user friendly, undoubtedly smart and convenient than ever before.”
