You work in an office that has already embraced BYOD, using mobile devices to print from anywhere, on-the-go. But when everyone is using different devices and software to use the same printers, how do you go about standardizing the printing workflow?
Samsung Printing Solutions wanted to implement a platform with smooth interoperability, providing the widest coverage possible across devices and platforms. To do this, Samsung acquired PrinterOn, a mobile printing pioneer that created the world’s first cloud printing platform.
What is PrinterOn?
PrinterOn is an ISV solution that reinforces Samsung Printing Solutions’ mobile ecosystem to provide enhanced cloud printing features. It comes in two types of packages: PrinterOn Enterprise, a customizable solution for enterprise-level businesses, and PrinterOn Hosted, an SaaS solution designed specifically for public locations.
What Makes It Different?
1) Cloud Directory™
PrinterOn’s patented Cloud Directory* sends information about printers and print destinations to users and applications on an as-needed basis. All PrinterOn applications are linked to this directory, providing users with secure, hassle-free printing from any location to any device.
2) Modular Software
PrinterOn software is modular, allowing IT managers to deploy their preferred components wherever and however they see fit. For instance, an office that faces sudden, high-volume print demands such as brochure printing could have extra rendering modules deployed to maximize resources under tight deadlines.
How Does It Work?
1) The Directory
Any document that you open on your chosen platform—whether it be Google Cloud Print, iOS, mobile apps, web upload, or e-mail—gets rendered in the cloud and securely delivered to the PrinterOn-enabled printer of your choice. Depending on your needs, you can use PrinterOn’s public cloud or a private cloud** designated for your enterprise.
2) Software & Deployment
You can print from PrinterOn’s web portal or with an e-mail submission. PrinterOn also offers its own PrintWhere Driver, which can be installed on Windows PCs and tablets to expand your system’s native File>Print options with extra settings for your PrinterOn-enabled delivery stations. You can also use the PrinterOn mobile app (available for Android, iOS, BlackBerry, and NOOK), which automatically discovers all available printers near you.
PrinterOn works with any printer by any manufacturer, as long as you have either the PrinterOn hardware or software installed. With Samsung printers, there’s no need make this extra purchase because they*** have the PrinterOn PDS (Print Delivery Station) and secure release software embedded.
With PrinterOn, you can securely print from your desk in New York to your client in New Delhi at the touch of a button. The best part is, you don’t have to sacrifice your preferred device or software to do it.
* This public directory is available to users of PrinterOn Hosted
** Private cloud services are only offered as part of PrinterOn Enterprise

Note: Other models can support PrinterOn with the necessary hardware and PC agent installed.
