Samsung Printing Solutions is well known for its investment in partnership and service quality. From the recently held National Dealer Meeting to the launch of the Samsung Printing Solution Marketing Support Portal, Samsung actively provides support tools and space for collaboration with partners. Following this momentum, Samsung hosted another meaningful event: the first U.S. Master Tech Contest 2015.
Samsung Electronics America hosts Master Tech Contest 2015
From October 22nd to 23rd, the Printing Solutions Division of Samsung Electronics America hosted a Master Tech Contest 2015 in New Jersey, U.S.A. The Master Tech Contest is a printer troubleshooting competition inviting engineers from Samsung’s partner dealers. A total of thirteen engineers, each representing a different partner dealer, gathered from all over the country to participate in this event.
“Mastering Technology for the Next Big Thing”
The Contest started with a welcome message from Samsung Electronics America.
“Through the Master Tech Contest, we hope to find and cultivate talented engineers with high service capability because we believe our partners and dealers are our valuable assets,” said Ron Nevo, senior marketing manager at Printing Solutions, Samsung Electronics America. Smith explained that the contest was to give engineers and the represented dealers a chance to show their capability and maximize their business opportunities.
After the welcome remarks, the Master Tech Contest started. The task was to solve eight medium-to-high difficulty problems related to troubleshooting, reassembling, and creating set-ups for Samsung’s flagship multifunction printer, the MultiXpress X7600. As the most advanced and high-specification multifunction printer in Samsung’s lineup, the MultiXpress X7600 was the ideal device for testing repairs.
“The MX7 being a new product line, we haven’t had a lot of experience working on them in the field, so the competition gave us the opportunity to see some of the bugs and issues,” said Jeff Spink from Usherwood Office Technologies. “The tests and routines and diagnostics make it very easy to figure out where the problem is.”
When the tasks were completed, the judges evaluated the engineers’ performance based on speed, accuracy, machine functionality, and more.
The event also included a Care Program, which provided demonstrations of differentiated solutions and services that Samsung provides for partners and their engineers.
In preparation for new release later this year, Samsung demonstrated Remote Call, a new app that enables engineers to connect directly with customers and remotely control and fix their printers. This app can speed up and simplify the troubleshooting process and reduce service call costs for customers.
In addition, Samsung explained how its soon-to-be-launched Smart Update app lets users install firmware updates without an engineer’s help.
The session wrapped up with a solution demonstration and Q&A session led by the product support team.
The Proud Winners of the Master Tech Contest 2015
On the second day of the event, the winners were announced during the award ceremony. This year’s winners are as follows:
- 1st place – Diamond: Adam Doyle, Shenandoah Valley Office Equipment
- 2nd place – Gold: Paul Pereira, LDI Color Toolbox
- 3rd place – Silver: Jeff Spink, Usherwood Office Technologies
“As a winner of the Master Tech Contest, it’s just a privilege and an honor,” said Adam Doyle of Shenandoah Valley Office Equipment. “I decided to participate in the Master Tech Contest because it seemed like something very fun to do, a great way to meet a lot of other very good techs, and a very good networking experience to get help from other techs on issues.”
Samsung believes that the participants of the Master Tech Contest 2015 will meet again. Samsung will continue to provide support for the dealers and partners, and is planning more projects to bring engineers together, giving them opportunities for collaboration and mutual support.
“The event was a great success, and we are planning more projects to really connect with engineers and partners,” said Smith. “We hope to create a community of engineers and provide them a space to share their knowledge and resolve issues through the help of other engineers. With projects like this, we strive to help partners satisfy their customers and improve their business.”
