When software developers create mobile applications, one of the things they consider is compatibility with different devices. App developers naturally want their apps to be as widely available as possible, so they often create different versions of their apps for different platforms. This is also to meet the needs of today’s increasingly mobile users, in which a given user works with several devices, from a PC to a smartphone or a tablet.
The same need exists for printers, the center of the office document workflow. This is why we partnered with Estmob, an IT start-up in South Korea, to create a printer version of their file sharing app, Send Anywhere.
Send Anywhere for Printer is our first printing app made using the Samsung Software Development Kit. With our Android-based Smart UX Center, we can easily create printer versions of existing mobile applications. Read below to find out more about both the mobile and printing versions of the app.
Send Anywhere: Securely transfer any file, of any type or size
Send Anywhere is a peer-to-peer file sharing application with more than one million monthly active users in 190 countries. It allows users to easily share files in real-time through a Wi-Fi connection or cellular network, without having to bypass a cloud.
Send Anywhere requires no log-in or registration. Each time a file is shared, a 6-digit code is generated. The file sharing link self-destructs after ten minutes, making the solution more secure than typical file-sharing apps. Also, unlike other file transfer or cloud-based storage apps, Send Anywhere allows the users to send as many files – of any type and any size – across diverse platforms – Android, iOS, Mac, and PC.
Smart UX App of the Month: Send Anywhere for Printer (Trial Version)
For the printer version of Send Anywhere, we brought the same features of the mobile version and adapted it to handle printing and scanning tasks. With Send Anywhere for Printer, users can send documents to any mobile device, desktop, or even another printer. In just two steps, users can scan and send, or receive and print documents right at the printer.
How to use Send Anywhere for Printer
Download Send Anywhere for Printer* from the Samsung Printing App Center.**
*The trial version will be uploaded on Printing App Center soon
**Before downloading the app, you need to first download and install Smart UX Library 1.0.2 version or higher.
Receiving & printing:
1. Enter the 6-digit code received from the sender.
2. Receive file and print.
Scanning & sharing:
1. Press the scan button to scan the document.
2. Send the automatically generated 6-digit code to the recipient.
With Send Anywhere for Printer, document sharing is easier than ever. If users had to scan the document to their PC and open their e-mail or an application to send the file as an attachment, now all they have to do is select the file and send the code to the recipient.
The free trial version of Send Anywhere for Printer will be uploaded to the Samsung Printing App Center soon, and will be available until the end of 2015. When the trial period ends, we will launch the full version of the app with extended features. And as always, we’ll continue to release various useful Smart UX apps each month. So keep up with us, and check out the rest of our printing apps and widgets at the Samsung Printing App Center.
