Samsung Printing Solutions has announced the results of its Eureka! Beyond Printer event. The online contest saw participants from all over the world getting in touch to discuss the Android-powered Smart UX Center and its range of downloadable software.
Eureka! Beyond Printer ran from early September until the end of November. Around 100,000 visitors dropped by a dedicated event page, and the judges received hundreds of outstanding entries.
The event was divided into two sections. The first, called Share My Story, was aimed at Smart UX users, and explored ways in which the UX had changed the way they work. It called for participants to share their own experiences of utilizing Smart UX products – such as the Smart UX Center – and software available from the Printing Apps Center.
The second category, meanwhile, was called Share My Idea. Here, general users and Android developers were invited to suggest new and inventive printing app proposals.
A total of US$33,300 was up for grabs for prize-winning entrants, with the first prize winners in each category claiming around US$2,500 each. The event was judged by members of Samsung’s Developing, Solution Consulting, Product Developing and Marketing teams.
American company Amestoy Dri-Wall took first place in the story category. The company’s employees shared information about how they used a Samsung X4250LX printer and the Dynamic Workflow app to speed up a weekly proposal-making process. This combination of powerful software and hardware solutions helped Amestoy Dri-Wall turn a laborious five-hour process into a considerably easier – and much faster – 60-minute task.
Meanwhile, a French OA dealer named CabinetPartner picked up the first-place award in the ideas category. The French company came up with a proposal for an app that allows IT administrators to connect to – and manage – multiple printer queues. CabinetPartner uploaded a demo version of this app, which also allows users to check on and use nearby printers with mobile devices.
Runners-up in both categories came from the United States, France, Italy and Korea, while Amestoy Dri-Wall’s story will now be developed as Samsung’s brochures and videos.
Samsung has recently unveiled its Smart UX Mobile app for Android devices, with an iOS version also in the pipelines.
The judges expressed their pleasure at having had the chance to hear so many stories from Smart UX users, and to explore the platform’s capabilities through this event. Following the release of the Smart UX Mobile app, Samsung is also set to release the brand-new Printing App Center 2.0. Stay tuned for Smart UX platform’s new developments.
